Our Values

At Murray Valley Bushwalkers Inc., we are guided by these core values:

  • Respect for Nature - We tread lightly, leave no trace, and protect the natural environments we are privileged to explore.
  • Inclusivity and Community - We welcome members of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels. Everyone’s journey is valued.
  • Safety First - The safety of our members is our top priority. We support well-planned, responsible adventures.
  • Lifelong Learning and Growth - We share knowledge, skills, and stories to support each other’s personal and outdoor development.
  • Friendship and Fun - We foster camaraderie and good humour on every event — because joy is part of the journey.

Club Guidelines

To help everyone enjoy safe and rewarding experiences, we ask members to follow these simple guidelines:

  • Be Prepared - Check event gradings and know your capabilities. Bring appropriate clothing, food, water, and gear, and arrive on time. Check What to Bring on the Event description.

  • Respect Leaders and Fellow Members - Follow the guidance of leaders and treat fellow members with courtesy and kindness.

  • Communicate Clearly - Inform your leader in advance if you’re attending or cancelling. Let someone know if you feel unwell or uncomfortable during an event.

  • Leave No Trace - Take only photos, leave only footprints. Dispose of waste responsibly and respect flora, fauna, and heritage sites.  Pack it in and pack it out!

  • Stay with the Group - On a hike, don’t walk ahead or lag behind. Keep within sight and hearing distance of the group unless the leader advises otherwise.

  • Prioritise Safety - Notify leaders of any health conditions that may affect your participation. Adhere to safety briefings and weather advice.

  • Support and Encourage - Offer a hand where needed and celebrate each other’s achievements — from first walks to summit victories! Remember, we all have a duty of care to other club members, guests and the public at large.
