Overnight backpacking hike Grade 3, meeting in Corryong 8.30am and driving to Round Mountain carpark to start the hike at 9.30am.
Co-Leader Axanthe Knott
Anyone wanting to camp close by on Friday night 24 April, can book a campsite at Clover Flat, or stay in Corryong. It's a 1 hour drive from Corryong to Round Mt car park. Meeting place in Corryong is outside the old primary school in Towong Rd (if coming from Wodonga, in the main street of Corryong, at the 2nd roundabout, drive into the service lane on your left). what3words address is stumble.jumper.sedans
Starting point of hike is the Round Mountain Trailhead on Cabramurra Rd - what3words address is coffeepot.farmyard.selling
We walk into Derschko's Hut and camp the night in tents, then return via the same track. There is a drop toilet at the Hut.
We should have magnificent views of Mt Jagungal this weekend.
There is water from a spring near the campsite, but it will need to be treated by water filter or sterilisation tablets. There is also a small creek that we cross just under 1km before we get to the hut which may have a better water flow.
There are some creek crossings if you want to bring water shoes - sometimes they can be jumped across.
Bring cash to pay car drivers.
