On Monday the 14th of September we drive to our accommodation in Castlemaine/Surroundings. Place of accommodation will depend on how many will join us.

Proposed walks are not necessary in that order. Distance is approximately only.
Day 1.Vaughan Springs on Gurr Track south through Castlemaine Diggings Heritage
Pk to Porcupine Ridge Rd 11.5 kms. P84 – 89 (heading south, so start at p 89)
Day 2.Fryerstown to cnr of Wheelers St and Etty St outside Castlemaine 11.7 kms. p
91 - 99
Day 3.Colles Rd outside Castlemaine to Specimen Gully Rd nr Calder Hwy 9.6 km. p
99 – 103. Could visit Pennyweight Flats Childrens Cemetery about 400m up Colles
Rd.
Day 4. Harcourt Sutton Grange Rd to the Watertank off Mandurang South Rd 12.8
Kms. P 113 – 117
Day 5. Rest Day, explore Castlemaine Diggings
Day 6. Sandhurst Reservoir to Diamond Hill 8.3 km. p 119 – 121
Day 7.Lake Daylesford spillway to Breakneck Gorge 11.2 kms, which is situated at the
Walks intersection of Main Rd. Main Rd goes to Hepburn Springs. p 72 – 75 in book.
Day 8.Telegraph Rd to Lake Daylesford spillway 9 kms. P 66 – 69.
Day 9.Freyerstown to Vaughan Springs 6kms
Drive home on Thursday the 24th of September
GRADE 3
Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. The track may have short, steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.
Bushwalk - Day hike - What to bring
- Up-to-date ICE (In Case of Emergency) form - ICE Form
- Water - up to 2 litres recommended for a full day walk
- Sunscreen
- Gloves and hat
- Sufficient food bearing in mind the distance and duration of the event
- Suitable clothing and footwear - note denim pants are uncomfortable
- Wet weather waterproofs - jacket and pants
- Walking poles
- Gaiters
- Whistle
- Basic first aid kit, including your specific medication, eg asthma inhaler
- Torch or headlamp for contingencies
