Xmas Party Walk. Grade 2 Approx 6km
10:30 am – Meet at Yarrawonga Yacht Club Foreshore
Meet at the Yarrawonga Yacht Club foreshore on River Road. Parking and toilets are
available at the meeting point.
Walk Around Chinaman’s Island Nature Reserve
Enjoy a pleasant, mostly shaded walk around Chinaman’s Island Nature Reserve.
Along the way, we may spot local swamp wallabies and a variety of birdlife. Dogs are
to be kept on leads.
After the Chinaman’s Island Walk – Drive to the Next Meeting Point
After completing the walk around Chinaman’s Island, drive along the lakeshore to the
Yarrawonga Foreshore on Bank Street (opposite Coghill Street). Parking and toilets
are available at this meeting point.
Foreshore Walk to the Visitor Centre
Begin by strolling along the foreshore to the Yarrawonga–Mulwala Visitor Centre,
then continue across the traffic bridge.
Through the Services Club to the Weir Bridge
Walk through the Services Club grounds to reach the weir bridge. Cross the weir
bridge to Burley Street Park, where toilets are available. Take a moment to read the
information boards about the weir and the local wildlife.
Continue to Lunch
Follow Irvine Parade to the Criterion Hotel, where we’ll enjoy lunch on the deck
overlooking Lake Mulwala. Dogs are to be kept on leads.
After Lunch – Choose Your Afternoon Activity
Following lunch it’s a short walk back to the cars, you may choose to return to the
Bundalong campsite or join the group for a swim and refreshments at Colleen’s
place in Mulwala.

No bushwalking experience required. The track has a hardened or compacted surface that may have a gentle hill section or sections and occasional steps.
Bushwalk - Day hike - What to bring
- Up-to-date ICE (In Case of Emergency) form ICE Form
- Water - up to 2 litres recommended for a full day walk
- Sunscreen
- Gloves and hat
- Sufficient food bearing in mind the distance and duration of the event
- Suitable clothing and footwear - note denim pants are uncomfortable
- Wet weather waterproofs - jacket and pants
- Walking poles
- Gaiters
- Whistle
- Basic first aid kit, including your specific medication, eg asthma inhaler
- Torch or headlamp for contingencies
